What you should know about Marquette

The Golden Eagles came back from down 10 points to defeat Drake, backed by 18 points each from Halle Vice and Skylar Forbes. There were four ties and one lead change in the fourth quarter, when Jaidynn Mason put the Golden Eagles up for good with 3:39 remaining. The squad is looking to make a deep run in its first year under Cara Consuegra, the Big East Co-Coach of the Year. Marquette leads the all-time series with James Madison 2-0, last beating the Dukes in 1994-95.

The Golden Eagles’ foe

James Madison is rolling, winners of 21 of its last 22 games after a 77-50 win against Davidson in the first round of the WBIT. The only defeat came in the Sun Belt Conference championship game against Arkansas State, a surprising result considering JMU went undefeated in conference play during the regular season (one of just seven teams in the county to accomplish the feat). The team is near the top in Division I in multiple statistical categories, including defensive rebounds and 3-point percentage defense. Peyton McDaniel leads the team in scoring with 16.4 points per game.
