Alongside the nation’s annual celebration of National Engineers Week, Marquette’s engineering community gathers each year for a week of events and activities to celebrate the engineering profession. Marquette’s Engineers Week (E-Week) 2025, held from Feb. 10-15, brought together students, faculty, staff and alumni for a variety of professional development opportunities, friendly competitions and social events.
Organized by student leaders in Engineering Student Council and sponsored by Findorff, Marmon Holdings Inc. and McShane Construction Company, the week highlighted Marquette’s spirited engineering community.
Professional development and career readiness

Marquette engineers regularly look beyond their course work to explore ways to use their skills professionally, so naturally E-Week 2025 provided students with opportunities to network with industry professionals and prepare for their careers.
An Engineering Resume Review offered one-on-one feedback from professional volunteers to help students refine their resumes ahead of a spring engineering career fair.
Later in the week, a Professional Panel, hosted by Tau Beta Pi (TBP) and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), featured alumni and industry representatives sharing insights about their experiences and professional growth. This panel included professionals from as close as downtown Milwaukee and as far as Atlanta, all committed to supporting and mentoring students.
Competitions and hands-on challenges
Marquette engineers are always up for a new challenge or project, so E-Week 2025 offered several friendly competitions for students to flex their creativity and more.
Marquette Eagle Racing’s Pinewood Derby invited students to build and race miniature cars on a custom-built ramp. In true engineering fashion, student leaders took the competition to the next level with an advanced timing system for precise photo finishes.

A Spikeball tournament, hosted by the Builders Coalition of Marquette University (BCMU) and Engineers Without Borders (EWB), offered students a non-technical competition that still demanded strong teamwork skills. This same spirit carried on with a dodgeball tournament later in the week hosted by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
The sweat continued from athletic competitions to a hot wing Contest organized by the Biomedical Engineering Society. Brave students advanced through a series of questions and escalating hot sauces, breaking for swigs of milk between rounds.

One of the most anticipated events was the Engineering Cake Wars, where teams designed and decorated Marquette engineering-themed cakes using only DIY tools, demonstrating their creativity and problem-solving in a unique way.

Social and community-building events
E-Week is all about celebrating Marquette’s engineering community, so student organizers planned plenty of opportunities for engineers to gather and connect.
The week kicked off with the Faculty Flip, where engineering faculty and staff served a pancake breakfast to students in Engineering Hall. Free breakfast returned later in the week with a breakfast giveaway hosted by Marquette Robotics.

Root beers with Engineers (for all students) and Beers with Engineers (for students 21 and older) provided a relaxed trivia environment hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Students also got a chance to show some love in a Valentine’s Day crafts session organized by the Society of Women Engineers and Tau Beta Pi.
No Marquette celebration is complete without some blue and gold spirit. The Marquette Engineering Tailgate, co-hosted by Alpha Omega Epsilon and Sigma Phi Delta, connected alumni, students, faculty and staff in Engineering Hall to build excitement before Marquette men’s basketball victory against DePaul.

An annual tradition: dancing at the Engineers Ball (E-Ball)
The week concluded with the Engineers Ball (E-Ball) at Turner Hall Ballroom, an annual tradition for engineering students to gather for their very own formal dance event. Over 350 Students celebrated with an evening of dining, music and dancing, marking an exciting end to a week filled with learning, collaboration and community.

By blending professional development with hands-on challenges and social events, Engineers Week reinforced the importance of teamwork, creativity, and career growth — cornerstones of a Marquette engineering education.
Engineers Week at Marquette is made possible by generous industry sponsors: Findorff, Marmon Holdings Inc. and McShane Construction Company.
