Dear valued colleagues,
With the spring semester in full swing, now is a good time to reflect on all the accomplishments since the holiday season.
Most notably, we commemorated our years-long facility revitalization campaign with the opening of the Delta Dental Urgent and Special Care Clinic in December. I was honored to be joined by many state dignitaries, President Kimo Ah Yun, and many of you. I consistently hear glowing reviews about our renovated clinics from visitors and I view these spaces as a great point of pride. As work nears completion in Surgical Services, Prosthodontics and Oral Pathology, I am excited for the clinic revitalization to fully take shape.
In this edition of Behind the Smiles, you will notice an abundance of awards and honors among our faculty and staff. Not only are these individuals highly deserving, but they each highlight the importance of collaboration and strong leadership within our organization.
Much has also been happening behind the scenes in MUSoD. I commend Drs. Zeller, Talley, Karl and the many others who have contributed to preparations for CODA’s site visit on March 3 to review our proposed General Practice Residency program. On a separate topic, I want to thank Tom Wirtz and the Dental Informatics team for bringing our new AI-powered assistant online. I hope to have more updates on this system as its abilities improve. Both of these projects again emphasize the collaborative, cross-unit nature of our school, for which I am very proud.
As you can tell, we are busy as ever and not slowing down. I feel inspired by the changes taking place and I hope you do, too.
Sincerely,
Dr. Elsbeth Kalenderian
