Marquette Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education will welcome Dominic Ortiz, CEO and general manager of Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 12:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall.
Register online to attend.
As Marquette honors Native American Heritage Month, attendees will learn about Ortiz’s priorities for the Potawatomi Casino, his impressions of Milwaukee and what he looks forward to for Milwaukee and the region.
Ortiz was named CEO and general manager of Potawatomi Hotel and Casino in 2021. He is an enrolled member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas and has worked in casinos in Kansas, Texas and Michigan before coming to Milwaukee. Since 2021, Ortiz has led the area casino through reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic, building improvements, additional restaurant offerings, sports betting and a new outdoor concert venue.
Derek Mosley, director of the Lubar Center, envisions the “Get to Know” series as “more late-night talk show than Meet the Press.” The program will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m., including lunch, conversation and community.
