Marquette Athletics and Third Space Brewing announce the release of Marquette Golden Ale

Marquette Athletics and Third Space Brewing announced the creation of Marquette Golden Ale, the first ever officially licensed and co-branded craft beer of the Golden Eagles. Marquette Golden Ale will be available at all Marquette home games at Fiserv Forum, the Al McGuire Center and Valley Fields beginning Monday, Nov. 4.

The partnership between Marquette and Third Space Brewing, facilitated by Learfield’s Marquette Sports Properties, also affirms the craft brewery and campus neighbor as the “official craft beer partner of the Golden Eagles and Marquette Athletics.”

“This was a great opportunity for us to work closely with a great neighbor and partner to create a unique product for the Marquette community,” stated Bill Scholl, vice president and director of athletics at Marquette. “We are excited to see Marquette Golden Ale’s release and to continue adding to the gameday experience for our Golden Eagle fans.”

“We are extremely excited to team up with Marquette as its official craft beer partner,” said Andy Gehl, Third Space Brewing co-founder and president. “With our brewery situated literally in Marquette’s backyard, we look forward to establishing Third Space Brewing as Marquette’s neighborhood brewery and to helping Marquette fans everywhere find their ‘happy place’ on game days and beyond.”

The refreshing golden ale is full of flavor and Marquette pride, and at 4.9% ABV it pairs best with game days and good company.

“We wanted to craft a recipe for a really easy drinking, refreshing Golden Ale,” added Kevin Wright, Third Space Brewing co-founder and brewmaster. “The malt bill for this beer starts with our house pilsner malt which we complement with some Vienna malt to provide some soft honey and bread notes. We also use some flaked corn which gives a touch of sweet character to this dry and crisp beer.  This is balanced out with Bravo hops from the Pacific Northwest that provides a hint of citrus.”

“We’re thrilled to bring these two neighbors together and create a great-tasting craft beer for our wonderful Marquette fans and community,” said Brad Harrison, general manager of Marquette Sports Properties, “and we appreciate that Third Space is engaging Blue & Gold Brewing to continue to provide innovative learning experiences for students who are part of the Blue and Gold Brewing program.”

Marquette Athletics and Third Space Brewing worked closely to develop this partnership with athletics multimedia rights holder Marquette Sports Properties, the locally based team of Learfield – the media and technology company powering college athletics – and CLC, a division of Learfield and Marquette’s exclusive trademark licensing agent.
