Marquette 2031 Strategic Plan: First initiatives to move forward announced

Marquette University today announced 19 initiatives aligned with the Marquette 2031 Strategic Plan that will move forward for FY25 (which ends June 30, 2025), along with the individuals who will lead each initiative. The Strategic Integration Team, which is charged with guiding implementation of the strategic plan, refined the list of initiatives  based on guidance from the Executive Leadership Team.

The initiatives, which were chosen by ELT based on feasibility, readiness, and alignment across the strategic plan’s objectives and priorities, span the plan’s three goal themes — Thriving Students, Healthy Campus and Care for the World. Although each initiative is at a slightly different stage in its implementation, each will have a:

  • Leader
  • Working group/committee
  • Charge
  • Timeline(s)
  • Deliverable(s)

See the full list of initiatives, initiative leaders and a description of each on the Marquette 2031 Strategic Plan Teams site. (The Teams site and its files are restricted to those with Marquette email addresses.)

The recommendations from the Securing Our Future Report, including more than 120 specific recommendations and nine transformative recommendations, have been incorporated into the Healthy Campus theme of the strategic plan. One of the19 initiatives will track the progress of the 120-plus specific recommendations. Each of the nine transformative recommendations will have its own initiative.

In the near term, the initiative leaders will build out their respective teams and/or work with existing groups — each will establish a charge with timelines and key milestones with support from the Strategic Integration Team. The Strategic Integration Team will ensure alignment with the FY26 (which ends June 30, 2026) budget and recommend to ELT outcome metrics and targets for each theme.

Several priorities in the strategic plan framework are prioritized for future implementation, and there will be opportunities for campus input this coming spring semester for FY26 initiatives.
