The University Staff Senate invites the campus community to participate in this year’s Holiday Giving Tree to help provide gifts for those who might otherwise not receive anything for the holidays.
For more than 25 years, Marquette has partnered with United Way to ensure that hundreds of community members feel loved during the holiday season. Marquette will be matched with an agency to support individuals in need.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to take part.
Those interested in participating are asked to submit their name and email via this form by Friday, Nov. 1. By mid-November, gift tags will be sent to participants via email and will include the age of the recipient, the category of gift (clothing, game, book, etc.) and the name of the partnering agency. Each tag is valued at $25 each.
Gifts will be collected from mid-November through mid-December. Gift bags are preferred over gift wrapping.
A gift drop-off station will be located in Sensenbrenner Hall 002. Student ambassadors from the University Honors Program will help sort, collect and accept gifts.
There will also be a drop-off table at Marquette’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting at St. Joan of Arc Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 5 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Marquette volunteers will deliver gifts to the agency by Sunday, Dec. 15. For more information, contact Maria Cooper.
The United Way of Milwaukee recently gave Marquette a city-wide shout-out for its outstanding response with last year’s Holiday Giving Tree. In December 2023, 112 Marquette employees collected over 250 gifts for three local agencies. That number was close to the pre-pandemic, record of 270 gifts.
