Join the Center for Peacemaking for a Soup with Substance discussion on Laudato Si’, an encyclical from Pope Francis, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from noon to 12:50 p.m. in the AMU Lunda Room.
Pope Francis calls us to care for our common home, knowing that a full response will require enormous change. We know how difficult it is to change what we do. Could it be even more difficult to change how we think? Changing our thinking is a university’s business — surely it can’t be that difficult?
The discussion will be led by Rev. Patrick Riordan, S.J., senior fellow in political philosophy and catholic social thought at Campion Hall, University of Oxford. His most recent publication is “Human Dignity and Liberal Politics.”
A light lunch of soup and bread will be provided.
Inspired by the “roundtable discussions” of Peter Maurin and the Catholic Worker Movement, Soup with Substance is a noontime presentation on an issue related to social justice over a simple meal of soup and bread.
