Don your blue and gold to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Michael R. Lovell, Marquette’s 24th president, by participating in the LOVELLSTRONG Legacy Run during Family Weekend, Saturday, Sept. 28.
The 2.4-mile route takes participants through central campus to Valley Fields and back, a familiar route for President Lovell, who built community by running with Marquette students, faculty and staff. This free walk/run is not a timed event, and the route follows sidewalks and pathways. All participants will gather outside the Alumni Memorial Union on Eckstein Common to kick off the event, with brief remarks beginning at 8:45 a.m. prior to the 9 a.m. start. Check-in begins at 8 a.m.
All participants are invited to enjoy a complimentary breakfast (while supplies last) in Eckstein Common following the walk/run, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board.
Advance registration is appreciated but not required. Those interested in participating can register online or during the check-in process on the day of the walk/run.
While this event is free, the campus community is encouraged to make a gift in President Lovell’s memory. President Lovell’s decade of servant leadership at Marquette was a radiant example of living out our Catholic, Jesuit mission pillars of excellence, faith, leadership and service. His countless contributions to Marquette and the Milwaukee communities will leave a lasting impact and be remembered forever.
