Hispanic Heritage Month events begin this week, to be celebrated through Oct. 15

Marquette invites all students, faculty, staff and alumni to participate in programs to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from Sunday, Sept. 15, through Sunday, Oct. 15. 

Following are the scheduled events as of Monday, Sept. 9. If you have other programs you’d like to promote through the Hispanic Heritage Month calendar and other Office of Inclusion and Belonging outreach, please send the title, date, time, location, brief description, and email address or website here

Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off: Orgullo Hispano March 

  • Friday, Sept. 13, noon to 12:45 p.m. starting in front of St. Joan of Arc Chapel 
  • Join the Latin American Student Org (LASO) and the Hispanic/Latinx Employee Resource Group to celebrate Latinx pride on this march around campus. Flags, music and snacks will be provided.

Fiesta de Noche 

  • Saturday, Sept. 14, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Ray and Kay Eckstein Common (east of the AMU) 
  • Fiesta de Noche is a celebration of Hispanic heritage hosted by Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc. The event features entertainment that shows traditional culture alongside free cultural food and a live DJ.

Convivio familiar en español  

  • Viernes, 27 de septiembre, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., en el Centro de Estudiantes (Alumni Memorial Union), Salón 227 
  • Vengan a convivir con otras familias de habla hispana. ¡Platicaremos, jugaremos Lotería (¡Habrá premios!), haremos arte, bailaremos y más! Habrá comida y bebidas. El evento es gratis y no requiere reservación por adelantado.

Latinx Alumni Panel: A Transformative Education Transforms Communities 

  • Wednesday, Oct. 9, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lemonis Center for Student Success second floor multipurpose room
