On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the university will welcome the Class of 2028 to campus. To make the move-in process as smooth as possible for new students and their families, please take note of several disruptions to parking procedures in the coming days.
Plan to allow a few extra minutes for your arrival and departure from campus. MUPD will close the 700 blocks of 13th, 17th and 18th streets beginning around 7:30 a.m. throughout most of the day. 17th Street will additionally be closed Sunday, Aug. 18, and Saturday, Aug. 24, for early and sophomore move ins, respectively.
Please consider ridesharing or taking alternative means of transportation to campus if possible.
If you routinely park in the 16th Street structure or Wells Street structure, please be aware of the following:
- Because 17th Street will be closed, those who regularly park in the 16th Street structure will only be able to access the structure through the entrance on 16th Street.
- Regular 16th Street structure parkers should plan to park on one of the top three levels of the structure (levels 4, 5 or 6). This will then free up the lower three levels for new students and their families.
- Regular Wells Street structure parkers are asked to park on one of the top four levels of the structure (levels 4, 5, 6 or 7). This will assist with the parking needs for students moving into Cobeen Hall, Carpenter Tower, Schroeder Hall and Abbottsford Hall.
Additionally, parking will be limited in Lot D on Aug. 21 to accommodate food trucks as a part of New Student Orientation. Parking will be limited in Lot A and Lot R on Friday, Aug. 23, due to Rock the Rec.
