Mary Janz, director of residence life, was honored with the Presidential Service Award by the Association of College and University Housing Officers International at its annual conference in Milwaukee in June. Janz was selected for her spirit of volunteerism, selfless behavior, giving spirit and good humor.
Janz has served the ACUHO-I organization in many capacities, including as Foundation chair, chair for several committees, and most recently as co-chair for Future of the Profession, Local Arrangements Host Committee chair, and Sprint keynote presenter.
At Marquette, Janz leads the Office of Residence Life’s efforts to build a close-knit community within the university’s living spaces. Marquette’s residential living experience is designed to foster student growth in interaction and communication, developing students’ interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills via community engagement. Janz has served the campus community since 1993.
