Timeline announced for vice president and director of athletics search 

Marquette has announced a timeline for the university’s search for its next vice president and director of athletics. 

On May 8, President Michael R. Lovell named a search committee to identify a candidate. The committee is chaired by Dr. Kati Berg, associate professor and associate dean for academic affairs in the Diederich College of Communication and faculty athletics representative. 

Collegiate Sports Associates is assisting with the search. 

May 

  • Collegiate Sport Associates visits campus 
  • Search committee gathers for the first time 
  • Listening sessions held on campus with various groups 
  • Position profile developed 
  • First steps taken to build candidate pool 

Early to Mid June 

  • CSA presents candidate pool to committee 
  • Committee selects semi-finalists 

Late June 

  • Committee interviews semi-finalists virtually 
  • President Lovell interviews semi-finalists virtually and separately from search committee 
  • Search committee makes recommendations to President Lovell regarding finalists 

Early July 

  • Finalists visit campus, meet with additional members of the  Marquette community 
  • References checked, other due diligence 

Mid to late-July 

  • Committee makes final recommendations to President Lovell 
  • President Lovell makes offer to candidate 

By early August  

  • Candidate hired and announced
