Engineering student Ashley Tan to deliver 2024 undergraduate Commencement address 

Ashley Tan, a civil and environmental engineering major in the Opus College of Engineering, has been selected as the 2024 undergraduate student Commencement speaker. 

During her time at Marquette, Tan has been heavily involved in Engineers Without Borders, serving as a silent auction lead, publicity chair and vice president in addition to working on multiple project teams. Through the organization, she worked with fellow student engineers to design and implement sustainable engineering infrastructure that helps meet basic human needs alongside communities in Guatemala. 

An honor student, Tan has additionally participated in Marquette University Student Government as program coordinator and sustainability coordinator. She has also planned local service events, taken part in Marquette’s Make A Difference Day each year and worked as a peer mentor in the Opus College of Engineering. 

Marquette’s 143rd Commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, May 11, at Fiserv Forum, located at 1111 Vel R. Phillips Ave., Milwaukee. The undergraduate ceremony will be at 1 p.m.; the Graduate School and Graduate School of Management ceremony will be later that day at 5 p.m. The School of Dentistry, Law School and College of Health Sciences’ professional programs will hold separate ceremonies and will not be part of the Fiserv Forum ceremonies. 

Guest tickets are required for entry into the 2024 undergraduate Commencement ceremony; all guests will need to provide a digital ticket.
