Sarah Kirkwood, an office and employer relations assistant with the Career Services Center, has been named the 2024 Marquette University Student Employee of the Year. Kirkwood was additionally named the regional Student Employee of the Year by the Midwest Association for Student Employment within the category of diversity and inclusion.
Kirkwood serves as a student representative on the selection committee for a student art project focused on creating a more inclusive and representative office environment. She authored an article on LinkedIn on the topic titled “Navigating Community, Inclusion, and Culture in the Workplace.”
Kirkwood facilitates team and community-building initiatives to inclusively build rapport among student employees and full-time staff. She regularly starts conversations about heritage and culture, including her participation and leadership role in the Bayanihan Student Organization.
Colleges and universities across the country honored their student employees last week, recognizing the vital services they provide for their departments, university and greater community.
