Marquette Core Curriculum announces new Discovery theme questions and course design workshops

The Marquette Core Curriculum’s “Integration through Inquiry” grant project, supported by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, is moving to its next phase with the finalization of new guiding questions for the MCC’s five Discovery themes

Interdisciplinary faculty teams developed new guiding questions for each theme to support the use of inquiry-based learning as a tool to strengthen connections across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and math in the Discovery Tier. The questions are available on the MCC Website

To support the use of these questions in Discovery classes, the interdisciplinary theme teams are hosting course design workshops throughout April for faculty teaching courses in the Discovery Tier. The sessions will provide additional details about the new guiding questions, explore the potential impact of inquiry-based learning and allow faculty time to workshop their own Discovery course syllabi in discussion with other colleagues.

Faculty are invited to attend a session for each theme in which they teach a Discovery course. Refreshments will be served.
