FAFSA delay update: Marquette working to send financial aid offers as quickly as possible

The Office of Student Financial Aid understands that the delay in financial aid offers is causing worry for students and families as they try to plan for the 2024-25 school year. All colleges and universities are experiencing delays in receiving 2024-25 FAFSA data from the Department of Education. The transmission of FAFSA data to colleges will begin in mid-March, but this will be a slow process with data initially only going to a few schools. Marquette does not expect to have data until the end of March.

While it is difficult for the university to anticipate a timeframe for sending financial aid offers to students, the Office of Student Financial Aid is working on doing this as quickly as possible. Students will receive a notification in their Marquette student email when financial aid offers are available in CheckMarq.

The 2024-25 FAFSA uses 2022 financial information, so the FAFSA may not represent your or your family’s current financial situation. Please wait until you receive the initial financial aid offer before contacting Marquette Central to discuss the special circumstances. The Special Circumstances Appeal process allows for the review and adjustment of some of the information on the FAFSA. The Office of Student Financial Aid cannot review Special Circumstance Appeals until you receive the initial financial aid offer.

Updates will be shared, as they become available, through Marquette email, on the Marquette Central website, and via Marquette Today. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through this new financial aid process.
