The Department of Theology and the Marquette Jesuit Community will host the Doerr Chair Inaugural Lecture, given by Rev. Cathal Doherty, S.J., on the topic: “Real Presence and Real Sacrifice,” on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Eisenberg Reading Room (Sensenbrenner Hall 304).
The lecture is open to the public, and a light reception will follow. No RSVP is required.
In August, Doherty, formerly an associate professor of theology at the University of San Francisco, was named the Emmett J. and Martha Doerr Chair in Theology in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences.
The Emmett J. and Martha Doerr Chair in Theology was established in 1993 to provide crucial and transformational support to the Department of Theology. While historically focused on Catholic systematic theology, the scope of the chair was expanded to other theological specializations.
