All cellphones will emit a warning sound on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at approximately 1:20 p.m. as the federal government is conducting a nationwide test of the emergency alert system.
The Wireless Emergency Alert will go to all cellphones, while additional alerts will be sent to radio and television broadcasters, cable systems, satellite radio and television providers, and wireline video providers.
