Marquette ranked 56th nationally in 2024 Wall Street Journal/College Pulse rankings

Marquette is ranked 56th in the country in the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. list. Marquette is the top-ranked university in Wisconsin and the third highest-ranked Jesuit university.

The WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking rates the top 400 universities in the country based on two major pillars: student and alumni surveys and student outcome metrics. WSJ/College Pulse surveyed more than 60,900 students and recent alumni nationally.

Marquette is also ranked 56th in terms of salary impact compared to similar colleges, a metric that measures the extent to which a college boosts its graduates’ salaries beyond what they would be expected to earn regardless of which college they attended. The university additionally scored well in graduation rates compared to similar colleges.

The list replaces the former WSJ/Times Higher Education ranking, which the publication released each year since 2016. The ranking methodology was adjusted to put greater emphasis on student outcomes. Universities are evaluated against a benchmark that shows how they improve the trajectories of their students’ careers. The ranking was developed and executed in collaboration with the Wall Street Journal’s research partners, College Pulse and Statista.
