Dr. Amanda Clark, dean of libraries and special programs at Whitworth University, will give a retelling of the story of distinguished alumnus Rev. Charles McCarthy, S.J., on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m. in the AMU Lunda Room.
After his studies in journalism at Marquette, Father McCarthy returned to China, where he was imprisoned for his work as a journalist and a Jesuit priest. He was released after five years, eventually returning to work in the Philippines. Clark’s lecture will provide an important retelling of how a Marquette education helped to make a difference in McCarthy’s life.
Clark is speaking as part of the Walter Ciszeck, S.J. Lecture, an annual lecture sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. No RSVP is required.
