The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, signed into law on Aug. 16, 2022, directs new federal spending toward reducing carbon emissions. The act aims to catalyze investments in domestic manufacturing capacity, encourage procurement of critical supplies domestically or from free-trade partners and jump-start research and development and commercialization of leading-edge technologies. It also allocates money directly to environmental justice priorities and requires recipients of many funding streams to demonstrate equity impacts. According to a report forecast, this may spur $3 trillion in energy investments by 2032 for a complete “reinvention” of the U.S. energy system.
The event will feature:
- Dr. Chris Merker, CFA, co-director, S-Lab executive-in-residence Sustainable Finance and Business Program, Marquette University
- Daniel Romito, co-director, S-Lab, Marquette University and director of ESG Strategy & Integration at Pickering Energy Partners
- John Clancy, leader of energy strategies practice group, Godfrey & Kahn
