On Wednesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 24, the university will welcome the Class of 2027 to campus. To make the move-in process as smooth as possible for new students and their families, please take note of several disruptions to parking procedures on these days.
Plan to allow a few extra minutes for your arrival and departure from campus. MUPD will close the 700 blocks of 13th, 17th and 18th streets beginning around 7:30 a.m. throughout most of the day.
Please consider ride-sharing or taking alternative means of transportation to campus if possible.
If you routinely park in the 16th Street structure or Wells Street structure, please be aware of the following:
- Because 17th Street will be closed, those who regularly park in the 16th Street structure will only be able to access the structure through the entrance on 16th Street.
- Regular 16th Street structure parkers should plan to park on one of the top three levels of the structure (levels 4, 5 or 6). This will then free up the lower three levels for new students and their families.
- Regular Wells Street structure parkers are asked to park on one of the top four levels of the structure (levels 4, 5, 6 or 7). This will assist with the parking needs for students moving into Cobeen Hall, Carpenter Tower, Schroeder Hall and Abbottsford Hall.
Additionally, parking will be limited in Lot D on Thursday, Aug. 24, to accommodate food trucks as a part of New Student Orientation. Parking will be limited in Lot A and Lot R on Friday, Aug. 25, due to Rock the Rec.
