New faculty, staff welcomed at Mission Convocation

Yesterday, the university’s first-year faculty and staff participated in Mission Convocation hosted by the Office of Mission and Ministry.

Attendees spent a half day learning about what it means to work at Catholic, Jesuit institution and the importance of Marquette’s four pillars — excellence, faith, leadership, and service.

Throughout the day, the new Marquette campus community members heard from guest speakers including Acting Vice President for Mission and Ministry Rev. John Thiede, S.J.; Dr. Chris Navia, vice president for inclusive excellence and leader of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion; and Marquette University Police Department Chief Edith Hudson.

Before ending for lunch, the new employees also heard from President Michael R. Lovell and how his faith guided his journey to Marquette.
