A welcome back message from Rick Arcuri, acting vice president for student affairs

Dear Marquette students,

I am happy to be serving as the acting vice president for student affairs, and I know I speak for the entire staff of the Division of Student Affairs when I say that we are excited to start the academic year! We have had a busy summer getting ready for your arrival and look forward to meeting those of you who are new to campus and catching up with our returning students.

As we embark on this journey together, I encourage each of you to take full advantage of all that Marquette has to offer. Join a club or organization, become a tutor, volunteer for community service, worship together. There are so many ways to become involved and to challenge yourself while you are here. You have a wonderful opportunity to try any number of new things, so embrace the adventure and follow the road less traveled.

If you have questions along the way, or need support or guidance, the staff of the Division of Student Affairs is here to help. There are dedicated individuals working across campus in a number of different offices who are willing to spend time with you throughout your time here.  Please reach out to your RA or hall director, or stop in at the Counseling Center, The Office of Inclusion and Belonging, Medical Clinic or Center for Student Wellness if you have any questions or concerns. And don’t forget to take care of yourself by visiting the Rec Plex or one of the other temporary recreation locations available across campus.

I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the programming and events that have been planned for you this fall. They began with Orientation activities and the Back Yard Bash and continue throughout the semester. You can check the Campus Activities Board website for upcoming events. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Fall Organizational Fest and Community Service Fair (Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Central Mall). It is a great opportunity to see all of the ways you can be involved on our campus.

I look forward to meeting you along the way, so please, have a wonderful start to your school year, take advantage of all that our campus has to offer and immerse yourself in the Marquette experience!

Rick Arcuri
