Marquette University mourns the loss of Dr. Christine Krueger, professor emerita of English, who passed away on Saturday, July 8, at 66 after a long battle with cancer.
Christine joined the English department in 1985. While at Marquette, she served as director of the University Core of Common Studies and president of the scholarly organization Interdisciplinary Nineteenth Century Studies. She received the inaugural Way Klingler Award for Interdisciplinary Teaching.
Christine studied the subtle intersections between Victorian literature and culture generally with a focus on theology and preaching. Her scholarly endeavors centered around the “long nineteenth century,” from 1780 until 1900. She retired in 2020.
