Blood drive competition leads to over 400 units donated on campus

Marquette’s blood drive competition with Butler University – organized through a partnership with Versiti – resulted in 434 total units of blood donated on campus. These units have gone toward helping over 1,300 local patient lives. 

Marquette hosted 18 blood drives on campus between September 2022 and April 2023 as part of the competition, resulting in 394 unique attempted donors. 

Chris Miskel, president and CEO of Versiti, presented Marquette President Michael R. Lovell with a gift basket on Monday, June 12, as thanks for the university’s support and partnership with the blood drive competition. 

Marquette and Butler are both members of the BIG EAST Conference for athletics and meet annually in 14 intercollegiate sports. Combined, Marquette, Butler and Versiti collected 789 units of blood and impacted over 2,300 lives.
