Representatives from Marquette attended the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation’s annual Foley Freedom Awards, which celebrate the legacy of late Marquette alumnus James Foley, on Wednesday, May 3, in Washington, D.C.

The annual event honors those who display moral courage and share in the foundation’s commitment to advocate for the freedom of all Americans held hostage abroad and promote the safety of journalists worldwide. Sixteen returned hostages and wrongful detainees were in the room. Those in attendance also heard from family members who are still waiting for their loved ones to come home, as well as from Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs Roger Carstens.
