James W. Foley Legacy Foundation Freedom Awards, May 3

The James W. Foley Legacy Foundation will host its annual Foley Freedom Awards celebrating the legacy of late Marquette alumnus James Foley on Wednesday, May 3, at 8 p.m. in Washington, D.C. The event will be livestreamed for free; those interested can register online.

Representatives from Marquette will be attending the event, which honors those who display moral courage and share in the foundation’s commitment to advocate for the freedom of all Americans held hostage abroad and promote the safety of journalists worldwide. More information about the event is available online.

Foley was captured and beheaded by ISIS while working as a freelance journalist in Syria in 2014. Foley’s legacy at Marquette continues through the development of the James W. Foley Journalism Safety Modules as well as scholarship support for students.
