Volunteers, marshals and readers needed for Commencement 

Faculty and staff are needed to serve as column marshals, volunteers and readers at either one or both Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 20, at Fiserv Forum, 1111 Vel R. Phillips Ave.  

The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 9 a.m., while the graduate and Graduate School of Management ceremony will begin at 2 p.m.   

Volunteers and marshals will be asked to arrive two hours before each ceremony. Readers will need to arrive one hour before the ceremony.   

Volunteer Duties 

Place printed programs on graduate chairs before the start of each ceremony, set out printed programs on tables near venue entrances, check student IDs at the graduate entrances (undergraduate ceremony only), check faculty and staff IDs at the service entrance (other duties as assigned). 

Column Marshal Duties 

Assist with seating the graduates within their colleges as they arrive, line up graduates to cross the stage, hand out diplomas (other duties as assigned). 

Readers 

Must be comfortable with reading graduates’ first and last names at a rapid pace. There will be an audition for this role that will be scheduled later.
