Curtis L. Carter Art and Social Change Virtual Lecture, March 30

Join the Haggerty Museum of Art for a virtual conversation with artist Tomás Saraceno and Dr. Somesh Roy, assistant professor of mechanical engineering in the Opus College of Engineering, on Thursday, March 30, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. via Zoom.

Register online.

This conversation is presented in conjunction with the Midwest Art History Society Conference panel “Contemporary Art/ Altered Climates,” moderated by Jennifer Johung, professor of contemporary art and architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Watch Saraceno, an internationally renowned artist, and Roy, a “historian of soot,” engage in conversation about the air pollutant black carbon (aka soot), its impacts on climate change and public health and the creative ways that artists and scientists are working together to inspire a more conscientious coexistence with the atmosphere. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Tomás Saraceno: Entangled Air,” on view at the Haggerty Museum of Art through May 21.
