Colloquium on developing digital critical edition of Tolkien Fanzines, March 29

Maxwell Gray, digital scholarship librarian in the Raynor Memorial Libraries, and Elizabeth Wawrzyniak, digital collections librarian at Gonzaga University, will present “Developing a Digital Critical Edition of Tolkien Fanzines,” on Wednesday, March 29, at 4 p.m. in Marquette Hall 105.

The presentation, part of the Humanities Research Colloquium series, will tell two stories at the intersection of print and digital media. First, why and how they are developing a digital critical edition of the J.R.R. Tolkien fanzine Entmoot (1965-1966) from the S. Gary Hunnewell Tolkien Fanzine Collection at Raynor Memorial Libraries, and, secondly, what the fanzine teaches us about building and preserving public digital scholarship in this new media moment.

They will share their project goals and discuss how they designed and developed the project over the past year.

They will also reflect on genre and media in the context of the new web publishing support service from the Digital Scholarship Lab at the Raynor Memorial Libraries.

There will also be a Teams option for those who prefer to attend virtually.

Email Dr. Melissa Ganz, associate professor of English in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, for the meeting link.

Light snacks will be provided.
