‘Remembering Bronzeville’ film screening, Feb. 26

The Diederich College of Communication invites the campus community to join a screening of “Remembering Bronzeville,” a documentary by Dr. Karen Slattery, professor emeritus of journalism and media studies, on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. in Johnston Hall 106.

Chronicling the creation of the play “Welcome to Bronzeville” about Milwaukee’s first black neighborhood in the 1950s, this documentary provides historical background to the characters and production.

The film is informed by two research projects, an oral history with people who lived in the original neighborhood and a second look at the narrative told in the mainstream press about the destruction of the neighborhood by public projects.

Join for pizza and the screening. Reach out to comm@marquette.edu to RSVP and share any dietary restrictions.
