Your help needed for the 2022 Holiday Giving Tree

December 8, 2022

The University Staff Senate and Center for Teaching and Learning encourage the campus community to participate in this year’s Holiday Giving Tree, which provides gifts for those who might otherwise not receive anything for Christmas.

Please make the holidays brighter for area kids and adults by selecting a tag and fulfilling a wish by purchasing a gift valued at $20 to $30 by Thursday, Dec. 15. At this time we have many unclaimed tags.

Tags can be selected in person at the Center for Teaching and Learning or requested digitally via email. You can also opt to give a financial gift and someone else will do the shopping for you. Return purchased gifts or financial donations to the Center for Teaching and Learning, located in Raynor Memorial Libraries, room 326.

Gifts will help support Hope House of Milwaukee, Inc., Grantosa Drive School and the Milwaukee Women’s Center POWER program.

Gift tags this year have one gift item noted. Some of the items needed are kids winter gear (hat, gloves/mittens/scarf); bathrobes; games, books and kids toys (age 5-11); kids art supplies (ages 6-17); self-care items (soap, candles, etc.); kitchen items; and healthy food snacks (non-perishable).

For more than 30 years, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee has led the Holiday Giving Tree project, which ensures hundreds of community members feel loved during the holiday season. Since 2018, United Way manages this program, matching nonprofit agency clients with groups and workplaces looking to purchase gifts and spread cheer. Marquette has been an important partner in this program for several decades.

With questions, contact Karina Mendoza, office associate in the Center for Teaching and Learning.
