Help support Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service

The Marquette-housed nonprofit Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service (NNS) is announcing a new fundraising initiative to help finance its efforts. Through Saturday, Dec. 31, NewsMatch will match all new monthly donations up to 12 times or double all one-time gifts up to $1,000.

For 11 years, NNS has tirelessly used professional journalism to paint a complete portrait of the city’s communities of color — residents who usually make the news in other outlets only when there is trauma, drama, chaos and confusion.

Because it is housed in the Diederich College of Communication, which has developed thousands of great journalism alumni for over a century, NNS also helps Marquette students take the lessons they have learned in the classroom and apply them in an award-winning newsroom that is known across the nation for how it serves the community.

It needs financial support to ensure it can keep spreading the news and training the next generation of journalists.
