Celebrate the season of Advent with events, concerts and worship

As the Advent season approaches, Campus Ministry and others on campus have a flurry of seasonal Masses, reflection opportunities, concerts and holiday-themed events planned for the campus and Milwaukee communities. 

We hope you enjoy these opportunities to take a break, draw a relaxing breath and reflect on the upcoming holiday season. 

Sunday, Nov. 27 (first day of Advent)  

Mass — 6 p.m. | Church of the Gesu 

Monday, Nov. 28 

Blessing of the Advent wreath — 12:30 p.m. | Alumni Memorial Union rotunda, 2nd floor  

Advent Taizé Prayer — 7:30 p.m. | Church of the Gesu  

Friday, Dec. 2 

First Friday Mass — 8:30 a.m. | St. Joan of Arc Chapel  

Choral Christmas Concert, Marquette Chorus and Chamber Choir — 7 p.m. | Church of the Gesu  

Sunday, Dec. 4 

Holiday Concert featuring performances by the MU Jazz Bands, Marquette Chorus, Orchestra Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble — 2 p.m. | Varsity Theatre  

Mass — 6 p.m. | Church of the Gesu 

Two students will be receiving the sacrament of Confirmation. Following Mass, Campus Ministry is hosting “Catholicism Café: Confirmation reception” in the David Straz College of Business’ Brownlee International Atrium to welcome the students and celebrate their reception of the sacrament. Hors d’oeuvres will be served; all are welcome.  

Christmas Concert, Gospel Choir — 7 p.m. | Alumni Memorial Union ballroom 

Tuesday, Dec. 6 

Tree lighting and caroling — 5 p.m. | St. Joan of Arc courtyard 

Carols will be sung and played by the Marquette band and choir, followed by remarks from President Michael R. Lovell and the blessing of the tree. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served and the first 250 students attending will receive a free thermal mug.  

Wednesday, Dec. 7 

Advent Reconciliation service — 7 p.m. | Chapel of the Holy Family, AMU  

Thursday, Dec. 8

Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary — 12 noon | Chapel of the Holy Family, AMU

10:00pm | St. Joan of Arc Chapel

Friday, Dec. 9 

Annual Lessons and Carols concert, Liturgical Choir — 7:15 p.m. | Church of the Gesu  

Monday, Dec. 12 

Masses for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe — noon and 4:30 p.m. | St. Joan of Arc Chapel

Adoration  

6 p.m. to 9 p.m., every Tuesday | St. Joan of Arc Chapel 

1 p.m. to 4 p.m., every Wednesday | Chapel of the Holy Family, AMU
