Take some time this weekend to enjoy the activities of Milwaukee’s Near West Side. From new parklets to fresh produce, there is no shortage of entertainment this weekend.
A ribbon cutting will take place to celebrate a new parklet in partnership with the Wisconsin Bike Fed on Friday, Aug. 5 at 5 p.m. Located outside of Triciclo Peru and Pete’s Pops on 37th Street and Vliet Street, the new parklet will offer programming and outdoor seating through the end of September.
Join in the opening weekend of the Vliet Street Oasis across the street from the new parklet on 38 Street and Vliet Street. This small farmers market opens on Friday, Aug. 5, and provides fresh produce every Friday and Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. until Sunday, Oct. 9.
There will be a neighborhood clean-up for residents and volunteers to attend on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. Following the clean-up, stop by a “Brat for Your Thoughts.” This is an opportunity to exchange community feedback for a free brat lunch. Elected officials occasionally attend these gatherings to create rapport and strong relationships among residents.
