Paul J. Jones, general counsel and vice president for university relations, has been named chair of the board of directors with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
Jones previously served as vice chair and assumed the new role in July. He joined the Greater Milwaukee Foundation board in 2014 when he was an executive at Harley-Davidson, Inc. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s volunteer board includes engaging civic and community leaders in Milwaukee who believe in the power of philanthropy and collaboration as important ways to strengthen our community.
“I am truly honored to serve as the chair of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and help to further its mission of sparking philanthropy throughout the area to address critical issues of great need,” Jones said. “This is an exciting time for the GMF with our shared community vision, A Milwaukee for All, pursuing racial equity and inclusion serving as our north star and our landmark ThriveOn collaboration.”
As vice president for university relations, Jones leads many of Marquette University’s external-facing functions, including marketing, communication, public affairs, and corporate and community engagement. The mission of the Office of University Relations is to serve the Marquette community as strategic partners, connectors and storytellers, with the ultimate purpose of elevating the Maquette brand to transform lives.
As general counsel, Jones is responsible for the management and operation of the Office of the General Counsel, which provides legal representation, advice and services on all legal matters affecting the university and its employees.
For more than a century, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation has helped individuals, families and organizations realize their philanthropic goals and make a difference in the community, during their lifetimes and for future generations. It is home to more than 1,400 individual charitable funds, each created by donors to serve the charitable causes of their choice. The foundation deploys both human and financial resources to address the most critical needs of the community and ensure the vitality of the region. Started in 1915, the Foundation is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the world.
