John Leuzzi, executive sports editor of the Marquette Wire, was named the Wisconsin Newspaper Association’s 2022 Collegiate Journalist of the Year at the WNA Foundation Better Newspaper Contest Awards Banquet on Friday, June 24, at The Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club in downtown Madison.
As executive sports editor, Leuzzi oversees sports coverage for the student newspaper, magazine, television station and radio station. He will begin his senior year in the fall.
Leuzzi reflected on his recent honor on the Diederich College of Communication’s Medium page.
The Wire’s newspaper, the Marquette Tribune, also won the WNA’s collegiate General Excellence Award at the event.
