Join summer cohorts of ‘Making Marquette Inclusive’ discussion series

An icon graphic representing A Culture of Inclusion from the Beyond Boundries Strategic PlanThe Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion will be hosting two summer cohorts of the “Making Marquette Inclusive” discussion series for university employees. 

Through a robust curriculum consisting of articles, videos and facilitated conversations, participants in this mini-course explore themes such as implicit bias, privilege, microaggressions, the promotion of equity and effective dialogue orientations. Participants have the opportunity to reflect upon the relevance of these topics to their own lives, discuss with colleagues and apply the concepts to their work in an action-oriented framework.  

Please note that there is an expectation that participants will take time to engage with the course readings/videos in between sessions. 

Summer Cohort 1 will meet: 

  • Thursday, May 26, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in person 
  • Thursday, June 2, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. via Teams  
  • Thursday, June 9, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in person 
  • Thursday, June 16, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. via Teams 
  • Thursday, June 23, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in person 
  • Thursday, June 30, 9:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. in person 

Summer Cohort 2 will meet:  

  • Tuesday, July 12, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Thursday, July 14, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Tuesday, July 19, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Thursday, July 21, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Tuesday, July 26, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Thursday, July 28, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Tuesday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Thursday, Aug. 4, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Tuesday, Aug. 9, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. via Teams 
  • Thursday, Aug. 11, 10 a.m. -11 a.m. via Teams 

Space will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested employees should reach out to Jacki Black, director of Hispanic initiatives and diversity and inclusion educational programming, by Friday, May 20, for the first cohort and by Friday, July 1, for the second cohort.
