Celebrate Commencement Week, May 17-22

Commencement Week programs and events will be hosted on campus from Tuesday, May 17, through Sunday, May 22, to celebrate the graduation and accomplishments of the Class of 2022.

Following are the scheduled events as of May 13:

  • Cap and gown pickup | 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, in AMU Lunda Room/Henke Lounge
    • If you haven’t ordered your apparel, contact University Special Events at (414) 288-7431.
  • First gen stole pickup for first gen graduates | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, in the Alumni Memorial Union
    • Register to pick up your first gen stole during gap and gown pickup online
  • Senior send-off | 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, in Central Mall
    • Join the Office of Engagement and Inclusion for one last senior send-off event. Central Mall will be filled with a variety of carnival activities and lawn games including:
      • Archery tag
      • Giant rock wall
      • Balloon and caricature artists
      • Free snacks, including Pete’s Pops
      • Free senior swag
    • An “MU 2022” photo opportunity will also be available in the AMU starting Monday afternoon
  • Food trucks | 11 – 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, in Central Mall
    • As part of the senior send-off activities, several food trucks will be providing free food for students and their guests. Food trucks are first come first served. Final list TBA.
  • Cooking with Chef Jyll | Meal Pickup from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, in Central Mall
    • Learn to cook lemon parmesan broccoli and turkey meatballs with Chef Jyll. This is a grab-and-go virtual program. Virtual instruction will take place on Thursday, May 19, at 6 p.m.
    • Only the first 25 students will receive meal kits, but everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
  • Joan of Arc goodbyes | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, at St. Joan of Arc Chapel
    • Campus Ministry will open the St. Joan of Arc Chapel to seniors to make a final visit inside before graduation. Stop by anytime during the hours listed for a little time to pray and reflect. No registration is required, but a limited number of people will be permitted inside at a time, so you may need to wait a few minutes if the chapel is full when you arrive. Contact Sara Knutson, assistant director of campus ministry, with questions.
  • Reception celebrating the class of 2022 | 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, in the AMU Monaghan Ballroom
    • Graduates and their families are invited to this event hosted by President Lovell and the Marquette University Jesuit Community
  • Unity Graduation | 6 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at the Varsity Theater
    • Unity Graduation is an annual event recognizing our graduates of color. Graduates will have a chance to celebrate with one another and family while receiving graduate regalia representative of their culture. Unity Graduation is open to students graduating in fall and spring. Register online. Visit the Center for Engagement and Inclusion for more information.
  • Baccalaureate Mass | 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena
    • Family and friends are invited to join in this liturgical celebration. There is no limitation on the number of guests that graduates may bring. No registration is required.
    • Graduates are encouraged to wear academic apparel and participate in the entrance procession, which will queue on the northwest side of the arena floor at 3:45 p.m. Hats and hoods will not be worn.
  • Undergraduate Commencement | 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, at Summerfest’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater
