Distinguished Scholars Program to recognize faculty for excellence in research, April 5

An icon graphic representing Research in Action, from the Beyond Boundries Strategic PlanThe Office of Research and Innovation will host the Distinguished Scholars Program on Tuesday, April 5, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the AMU Ballrooms. 

The following 12 faculty members will be recognized for outstanding achievement in research and scholarships: 

Lawrence G. Haggery Faculty Award for Excellence in Research 

  • Dr. Eugenia Afinoguenova, chair and professor of Spanish in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 

Way Klingler Fellowship 

  • Dr. Elizabeth Angeli, associate professor of English in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Jodi Melamed, associate professor of English in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Marcus Plested, professor of theology in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Elaine Spiller, associate professor of mathematical and statistical sciences in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Chae Yi, professor of chemistry in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 

Way Klingler Early Career 

  • Dr. Joseph Clark, assistant professor of chemistry in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Jacklynn Fitzgerald, assistant professor of psychology in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Nate Lemoine, assistant professor of biological sciences in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Walter McDonald, assistant professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering in the Opus College of Engineering 
  • Dr. Lee Za Ong, assistant professor of counselor education and counseling psychology in the College of Education 

Participating Faculty Research Award 

  • Dr. Michael Olson, visiting assistant professor of philosophy in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences
