Rev. Ryan Duns, S.J., giving gallery talk at Haggerty Museum of Art

Rev.

Duns

Rev. Ryan Duns, S.J., assistant department chair and director of undergraduate studies in theology, will give a gallery talk on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Haggerty Museum of Art. Duns will be discussing the exhibition “Maxim Kantor: Wasteland (Letters from Karakorum),” which was created in collaboration with his spring 2022 class THEO 2330: Evil, Horror and Theology.

Duns’ course focuses on the genre of supernatural horror, inviting students to identify what Duns calls “dark transcendence.” Through film, literature and the visual arts, the class will probe the mystery of evil and horror and consider ways in which these genres can serve as portals to an encounter with the “Dark Transcendent” known to theologians as Divine Mystery.

No RVSP or prior registration is required.
