The Marquette University men’s and women’s basketball teams will feature gold uniforms on Sunday, Jan. 23 as a display of support for Marquette University President Dr. Michael R. Lovell, his family and those affected by cancer.
All fans in attendance at Sunday’s 1 p.m. outing against Xavier at Fiserv Forum are encouraged to wear gold in support of the #LovellStrong initiative. Dr. Lovell was diagnosed with sarcoma in September of 2021. The players and coaches on the women’s team will also feature Gold uniforms and shooting shirts for its road contest at Butler.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) is presenting its annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Week (Jan. 24-30) and without a home game that week, Marquette will participate in the initiative at Sunday’s matchup at Fiserv Forum and all week long at a pair of road games. Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Week is a nationwide event that unites coaches across the country to raise funds and awareness about the fight against cancer and promotes the American Cancer Society as a source of inspiration and hope for those facing cancer.
