Dear Marquette community:
We are grateful for all that you did to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 this past semester. Thanks to our high vaccination rates – over 93% of faculty, staff and students – and indoor mask requirement, we were able to offer a rich in-person experience for our students. The Marquette University COVID-19 Response Team continues to meet multiple times each week and is closely monitoring the rise in Omicron variant cases across the country.
Science has shown that our best protections against COVID-19 are vaccination and masking. The Winter Break is a great opportunity to get your booster shot and to get vaccinated if you have not already done so. Make sure to upload your booster and vaccination information to the MU Patient Portal.
We will continue to listen to medical experts, follow the science and utilize our dashboard gating metrics on the COVID-19 website. We are also continuing mitigation measures for unvaccinated individuals, including regular testing.
The university is scheduled to reopen as planned on Jan. 3, 2022, following the Gift of Time. Marquette is committed to in-person learning, with undergraduate classes beginning Tuesday, Jan. 18. We will remain flexible and nimble to adjust to new information, as we have throughout the pandemic. Please watch Marquette Today for updates related to our COVID-19 mitigation protocols.
Enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones and stay healthy.
Sincerely,
Dr. Xavier Cole
