The College of Nursing will host former Wisconsin Governor Martin Schreiber as he presents “My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver” on Friday, Nov. 19, from noon to 1 p.m. in Clark Hall Room 111.
Gov. Schreiber will share insights from his personal journey as a caregiver for his beloved wife Elaine, who is living with Alzheimer’s disease. Over the years, he has watched as Elaine has gradually transformed from the woman who gracefully entertained in the Executive Residence to the one who sometimes no longer recognizes him as her husband. With compassion and humor, he will share his insights about coping with a serious illness and grieving someone who is still living.
