IWL and AMUW present 2021 Reproductive Injustice Salon Series

On Thursday, Oct. 14, from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., the Association of Marquette University Women (AMUW) and the Institute for Women’s Leadership (IWL) will launch this semester’s Reproductive Injustice Salon Series led by Dr. Dána-Ain Davis, AMUW women’s chair, assisted by Dr. Sameena Mulla, acting associate professor of women’s, gender, and sexuality at Emory University, and co-sponsored by the Center for the Advancement of Humanities.

The first session of this series is a virtual discussion between Dr. Davis and Dr. Annie Menzel, assistant professor of gender and women’s studies at the University of Wisconsin. They will focus on Black infant mortality and the biopolitics of racial innocence, which is a topic of Dr. Menzel’s forthcoming book, “Birthing Paradox: Racism, Colonialization, and Radicalism in US Midwifery.”

This event will take place via Zoom. Register for the event online.

The next session in this series will take place Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
