High-performance computing resource Père will be decommissioned Oct. 15

After over a decade of service, running almost 2 million individual simulations and contributing to over 200 peer reviewed publications, Marquette’s centralized high-performance computing (HPC) resource Père is being decommissioned on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021.

With the acquisition of the new HPC resource Raj, the cost to maintain Père outweighs the benefits it provides.

Current Père users will lose access on Friday, Oct. 15. IT Services recommends that users move their research to Raj before that date. Users will also lose access to all the data stored on Père. ITS encourages that backups of any important data stored on Père occur before Friday, Oct. 15.

If you need access to Raj, request an account through Marquette’s HPC website.

For assistance with backing up data or moving it to Raj, please contact the research computing services team.
