Dr. Jennica Webster receives 2021 Award for Responsible Research in Management

June 11, 2021

Dr. Jennica Webster, associate professor of management in the College of Business Administration and co-director of Marquette’s Institute for Women’s Leadership, has been named a winner of the 2021 Award for Responsible Research in Management by the Fellows of the Academy of Management and the Community for Responsible Research in Business and Management.

The award pays tribute to high quality scientific research that addresses critical issues in business and society. Specifically, Webster is being honored for her publication “Because you’re worth the risks: Acts of oppositional courage as symbolic messages of relational value to transgender employees.”

Thirteen winners are chosen for this award through a rigorous two-stage review process that involves both Fellows of the Academy of Management and practicing executives. Each award winner, including Webster, exemplifies RRBM’s principles of responsible research.

Webster’s research focuses on the types of workplace relationships, climates and processes that impact the experiences, health and well-being of women and traditionally disadvantaged groups. Her research has been published in various outlets, including The Harvard Business Review and The Journal of Applied Psychology and has been recognized by the National Science Foundation.

Webster places significant importance on diversity and inclusion and issues concerning gender identity – utilizing her expertise in these concepts in the classroom and beyond.

Webster was also recently honored with Marquette’s 2021 Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award at the virtual Père Marquette celebration.
