Dr. Heidi Bostic will assume deanship of College of Education in addition to Arts and Sciences, effective July 1

June 10, 2021

Starting July 1, Dr. Heidi Bostic, dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, will also assume the deanship of the College of Education, Provost Kimo Ah Yun announced today. She will continue to serve as dean of arts and sciences, in addition to her new role. Bostic succeeds Dr. Alan Burkard, who was named acting dean following Dr. Bill Henk’s retirement in December 2020.

The College of Education will retain its status as an independent college, a decision that follows discussions among Provost Ah Yun and college leaders and faculty dating back to 2019 related to the college’s enrollment and financial performance. The college’s performance indicators will be reevaluated in fall 2023.

“I am pleased that we have been able to identify a leadership structure that will allow our students, faculty and staff to thrive,” Provost Ah Yun said. “I’d like to thank Dr. Bostic for stepping into this important leadership role. She will provide a vision and strategy for the College of Education so that we may educate future generations of teachers, counselors and educational leaders.”

Additionally, Bostic will work to identify a candidate from within the College of Education to serve as associate dean.
